First draft of double page spread interview.
She has gone from princess of pop to meantally unstable, wowed us with her dance moves and array of Avant Garde outfits and after a constant array of bad press in the past she is here fighting back with the strong voice that we all know so well. Her upcoming album features an array of definite hits that will both destroy the dance floor and touch the hearts of her loyal followers. She is back with fighting spirit and stronger than ever.
So Jessie we have heard your new album and believe it is your best yet, what was your inspiration for the song choices?
Well this is actually the first album I have written and co-produced myself so it’s just very personal. I guess I was inspired by the people around me, my experiences and other artists at the minute. It is just very close to my heart but also has a few club hits because I just wanted to have fun with the music, you know? Create an album I would buy.
You mention you’re inspired by other artists, who is your favourite at the minute?
Well, Britney Spears is a big inspiration just how she was criticised so hard but still came back to get a string of number ones that is my main inspiration. She shows that you shouldn’t listen to what is said in this industry just focus on you and you will succeed. She represents that and as a young artist that is the most inspiring thing. She also creates some killer music 13 years into her career.
So all of the negative press you have had about miming and being fake you ignore?
No, yes, yes I do now I didn’t before and it got to me and I dealt with it how I shouldn’t have but, my music is not an effect of what I do I don’t want to be a role model I want to be an inspiration...I make mistakes like everybody. My music is what I want people to see not what I do personally.
Okay, so what is your favourite track off of the album?
I really love XS because the lyrics are close to me and it is to a killer beat that just makes you want to move.
Now you have wrote your own album, would you like to get more hands on with other things like your music videos?
Well I have been coming up with the concept for the lead single off of ‘R’ which is called ‘red lipstick’ and I plan to direct a video by the end of 2012. So yes definitely I want to create my own art and not just stop at performing.
You’re coming back into music after a year off and are coming in at a time when female artists are ruling the charts, what are your thoughts of going up against the likes of Lady Gaga and Rihanna?
They’re both very talented and the competition will spur me on to do well, so yeh, It’s good to have a little competition. Who knows I could be ruling the charts again by the end of 2012[laughs to self]
Okay well it’s lovely to see you back in music and stronger than ever we wish you all the best with the album bye.
