Music Magazine Initial research.

The biggest consumer magazine publishers are:

  • Bauer (which took over the 2nd largest group, Emap, in 2008): 26%
  • Kerrang
  • Q
  • Mojo
  • IPC (Time Warner): 20%
  • NME
  • Uncut
  • BBC Magazines (BBC): 8%
  • Radio Times
  • National Magazines (Hearst): 7%
In the UK there are 4 music magazines:
Kerrang
NME
Mojo
Q
The audience that they target are people interested in music. The specific audience will vary depending on the genre of music that the magazine has. For example a classical music magazine will generally target an older audience where as a pop magazine will target young teens that are likely to be female.
