Audience research

For my investigation I asked 10 people 10 questions to find out what they would like to see in a college magazine. From my results I found out that, 100% of people would pay 50p for the college magazine. The top 5 topics that people would like to see in the magazine are College Parties, Gossip, College news, an agony aunt page and college events. Because of this I am going to focus my cover lines around these topics. 90% percent of pupils said that they would like to see the magazine produced monthly therefore my magazine will have the month of in to show that it is produced monthly. When asked who they would like to see on the cover 80% said pupils, 10% staff and 10% local/college bands. Because of this I will use a pupil for my main image. Pictures were favoured heavily to writing with 80% of the people asked wanting pictures as opposed to writing. My results show that people believe that the tone of a magazine should switch between jokey and serious. People would like that magazine to be A4 opposed to A5. When asked what they spend their money 70% of people said clothes this ties in with another question about vouchers. 90% said that vouchers would encourage them to purchase the magazine. With these two pieces of data I will advertise vouchers for clothing discount.

Because a sample size of ten is small, next time I do audience research I will get a bigger sample to get a more in depth idea of what my audience would like.
